The U.S. and Canada Are Not "Friends"

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was not elected to be friends with the United States or it's government. He was elected to make the best trade deals he can with the rest of the world for the benefit of Canada and it's citizens.

Donald Trump most certainly was not elected President of these United States because he is a nice guy, period. Many U.S. businesses have felt they have been getting the short end of the stick when it comes to international trade and the profound loss of manufacturing jobs in this country has been a sore point for a very long time. Ditto for the U.S. steel trade that had become a victim of product "dumping" by the Chinese that goes back to the 1980s and the decimation of the national steel industry at that time.

Indeed, every leader of every nation, with a few dictatorial exceptions, is looking out for the best interests of their nation. We are friendly with all nations and most of them are friendly right back but...

We are not friends when it comes to trade.

There is much lamenting going on right now by the Political Left who are decrying the Trump Tariffs and what a devastating effect they will have on "Our Friends". Suddenly other nations like Mexico and Canada are being worried about heavily and publicly by such Leftist entities as National Public Radio, the PBS News Hour and those two prominently featured Socialist Wack-Jobs Mark Shields and David Brooks. With much hand-wringing they describe how these most friendly nations to the United States are being treated so, so Shabbily!

Forget the tariffs, THIS should worry Canada and Mexico more.

Our Allies!

The big lament on the "News" hour, and I laughed out loud when they said it, was "why are we doing this to our ALLIES?" And, of course, they repeated this phrase several times throughout the broadcast, putting extra emphasis on "Allies" like this was now the most unprecedented affront to the sacred bond of alliance that has ever manifested on the material plane of man's existence.

My first thought was that Mexico and Canada were supposedly our allies when they signed off on the trade deals in the first place so if they can accept a deal that tilts in their favor, what were they doing to THEIR allies?

Screwing them, that's what.

So now we have President Trump who doesn't like the deals our past presidents have been making. History hasn't proven them to be working in the favor of the United States. To allow these deals to be changed to more favorable circumstances cannot be allowed by the Leftists. Success for the United States is an unthinkable concept for them. It cannot come to pass.

China

It is well known that China hasn't had an original thought since Mao took over the country back in 1949. China's government has made it an all encompassing passion to hijack the technology of other counties and produce these products cheaper without ever making the proper payments to the originators as outlined by international copyright. This is an act of theft.

According to National Public Radio, China denies this claim.

Can you imagine Hillary Clinton dealing with the trade imbalances of the United States economy? She wouldn't even know what people were talking about. She would simply just "roll up her sleeves and get it done!", yes? Right, exactly.

No, we don't care if Canada likes us or if Mexico likes us (they certainly do not) or if Germany, Spain or France like us, Donald Trump wasn't put where he is for such pleasantries and he didn't step away from his businesses and busy successful life as a rich person to BE pleasant. For the first time in a long time we have a person in the White House who knows a good deal when he sees one. He is here to make good deals for the United States.

And its about time we did.
