When Watch Dogs Fail to Bark

We've seen this repeatedly now.

From Columbine High School shooting where the police failed to enter the building to confront the two shooters and actually didn't go in until the next morning practically insuring any wounded would bleed to death to the Marjory Stoneman high school in Florida and now the Tennessee Waffle House shooting where the shooters were either known to police or the police were in a position to intervene and instead the police did nothing.

And it's the guns we blame.

Under these circumstances we could have another hundred gun laws on the books and they wouldn't amount to a hill of beans since nobody is out there enforcing them. My mom used to say about an issue, " Just pass a law!" which was her way of mocking the whole "There aughta be a law against this.." crowd. A law is only words on a piece of paper. Just like the Bill of Rights, and if nobody steps up to defend either of them, they are worthless. Nobody is going to get saved.

And this particular shooting breaks my heart.

Upon seeing aspiring youth struck down truly saddens me. And what saddens me further is the political exploitation of their deaths before their family and friends even have a chance to grieve.

Especially when we all know that nothing is going to change until we start having our public servants do their jobs. The jobs we pay them a princely sum to perform and yet they time and time again fail to follow through on their duties as the public protectors. How can we debate taking guns away from the public when there appears to be no other alternative but to arm ourselves against such random acts of domestic terrorism? Are the police going to protect us?

I'm waiting for the answer.

We appear to be heading to the same issue the country went through in the 1970s were the State won't protect you but also you weren't allowed to protect yourself. A no-win situation. People were arrested every day for trying to keep from getting killed by criminals. We are going to bring this crime back, are we?

Even if someone in the Waffle House had a gun, I don't see a different result. The guy just walked up and started shooting. If you don't see it coming, how are you going to defend against it?

But to know, and we will know more, that the shooter was in the hands of law enforcement for acting crazy and here he is, shooting up a place. Again.

Perhaps the answer is really to bring back the Nut Houses.

We used to have several State run mental health facilities in this area of Massachusetts before Governor Michael Dukakis closed them. They were big places too, one in Foxboro, MA not far from Patriot's Stadium and the other in nearby Wrentham but both were shuttered. Now only two remain, Medfield State Hospital and the Bridgewater Facility for the Criminally Insane. Only Medfield is accessible to regular folk since Bridgewater is actually a prison.

The state has since found no replacement for such facilities and hence has no place to send people determined a danger to themselves and others. If law enforcement had a place to take these people when they come across them then perhaps they would do just that and document and identify them.

The argument to close these facilities was that this form of incarceration was a violation of the human rights of the people remanded to them. But it was really about the money.

And now society is paying a higher price for not having them.

Misunderstanding the 2nd Amendment

The founding fathers of the United States of America didn't fight a long and bloody war with the mighty British Empire so that we are all guaranteed the right to own a hunting rifle. That's just not it at all.

It was so that the citizenry, that's you and me, had a right to bear the same arms that could be brought to bear against us should the government determine that it should march against the people in order to subjugate them to their might.

As someone once put it, the people who started our government and framed the U.S. Constitution and it's linchpin, the Bill of Rights, were not powder-wigged fools. They foresaw that someday in the future that there could possibly be a time where people of the nation would need to use such arms to either defend themselves or to drive out those who may wish to take over the government either from within or without. And to do that, a hunting rifle just isn't going to cut it.

The Teeth in the Bill of Rights

Does anybody believe that any of the other 9 Amendments in the Bill of Rights would be worth a hill of beans without the 2nd Amendment?

Freedom of Speech? The United States is the only country in the world where the right of the people to speak and say what they want, including talking down the President and it's ministers, that has written an absolute guarantee to it's people. We see the difference in this way of thinking all over the world. Canada doesn't guarantee it's citizens a right to free speech, nor France or Great Britain, not Australia or Sweden. Great Britain doesn't even have a written constitution. I guess your rights there are whatever Parliament says they are. No right to privacy, no right to free speech.

There is no equivalent anywhere in the world to our 1st Amendment. Some say it's our weakness but they'd be wrong. Like what you hear or hate it, people have a right to say it. And if, say, the government were to attempt to smash the people's right to protest and speak out, what mechanism could there be to impress upon government that the people wish to maintain this freedom?

That's where the 2nd Amendment comes in.

So perhaps one could say that the 2nd Amendment guarantees the 1st.

How about the 3rd Amendment? Could soldiers possibly be taking over homes in modern times? Would you call that impossible? Well it is since it is specifically outlawed in the 3rd Amendment. So, say, if troops were deployed to a disaster area here in the U.S. and needed a place to stay and told you that they were staying and you had to go...well, that's where the 2nd Amendment comes in.

How about something like China's new "President" for life? I like how our government likes to refer to Dictators of counties we trade heavily with as "President". But take Mr. Xi Jinping and his desire never to leave office. If this happened in the United States, what do you suppose might happen?

China has no such right of the citizen to own a fire arm and it shows.

The 2nd Amendment upholds the entire Bill of Rights. It is a complete and most perfect document made strong by the right of the people to bear arms. It is unique to the world and because it is so, the 2nd Amendment is the most maligned and attacked amendment. It just goes to prove the adage that for the American citizen, freedom is fought for every day. And so we fight on for those who don't understand the full meaning of why it's there.

Lexington, Massachusetts

If anybody bothers to look at my profile picture, you'll see that I'm standing on the bridge at Lexington, MA. This is the spot where our first citizens stood and traded fire with the troops of the British Empire. No small feat this. This was the day of the "Shot Heard Around the World" and where later in the day practically all the armed citizen militia answered the call and the British, by the end of the day, got their asses shot off.

Why did the British come out of their Boston stronghold that day? What was their purpose? To get the guns. They knew rifles and gunpowder were being stored in Lexington. That's what they came for and there is a larger than you are lead to believe group of people in this country that thinks that the next entitled government entity will try the same thing if they aren't paying attention. That's just the way has been ever since that day, April 18, 1775. It's going to take more than the latest media parade to knock them off of this belief.

Gun Sales will Rise

Anyone who thinks that these school shootings has reduced by one iota the public's desire to defend themselves with a firearm is living under a mistaken belief system. People will again flock to buy a gun based upon the media's inflammatory rhetoric which has very much sought to exploit the tragedy in the hopes of getting out in front of their anti-gun campaign before the real story of the failure of law enforcement, both local and federal, to act to stop a very preventable shooting.

What's an Adult?

Even if I lived in my mother's basement playing video games at the age of 18, I'm still considered an adult, although not quite a responsible one. But even so, the law says that at the age of 18 I can be tried as an adult in the court of law and sign binding contracts.

Raising the age of buying a semi-automatic rifle or weapon, and they're ALL semi-automatic these days, to 21 represents a clear infringement on the rights of an adult to own a firearm and will not stand. They can pass the law but it won't hold up in court. You can carry a fully automatic weapon in Afghanistan for the U.S. government but you can't carry a semi-automatic when you get back? That's bullshit.

Bill Clinton Tried it

The Clinton Administration passed the so called "Assault Weapons Ban" back in 1994 which only served to drive ownership of such labeled weapons underground. Who knew how many were out there. The state of California imposed an assault weapons registry which nobody paid any attention to. So that's your precedent.

Rights Under Assault

Our rights are violated daily. The National Security Agency, the NSA, has been outed as spying on U.S. citizens in violation of the 4th Amendment that guarantees protections from unlawful search and seizures of property. The 1st Amendment is under assault from the Political Left for which has been mounting a sustained campaign against what kind of speech is actually protected, branding speech as "racist" or "hateful" or partitioning speech with the bogus "Free Speech Zones" when, of course, all speech is free anywhere you want to speak it. The U.S. court system is constantly working on the 5th Amendment going so far as punishing people for failure to incriminate themselves.

We have giant U.S. corporations making deals with foreign Dictators while simultaneously voluntarily allowing our own government free access to their communications systems for "monitoring" of U.S. citizens. There is no privacy any more and the collusion between multi-national corporations and government to know everything about everybody should be a major cause of concern for every thinking American.

And you think people are going to just give up the right to own a gun?

Good-bye National Football League

It was more of a visceral reaction than a conscious one. I was driving by the local high school athletic fields when I saw it was youth football practice.

Named after a legendary American Football coach from the turn of the last century, "Pop Warner" youth leagues are in every town here in New England and since Fall is the season for football, you can see the kids out practicing, bless their rattled little heads.

So I had the strangest reaction when I saw a "Football Mom" helping her young son get into his uniform. I winced a little. For some reason it seemed like child abuse although I really do know better than that.

A child always wants to please their parents so there's no way of knowing if this kid really wanted to play football or if it was something imposed upon him by his parents, especially Dad who most likely played the game himself and as I looked upon he scene, I felt the boy wasn't old enough to make that decision for himself. Not this decision anyway.

Back when they had to literally flay your knee wide open in the operating room to repair injuries leaving Amazon River like scars on young knees, I saw a good portion of such work even at the high school level. I even played the game myself for a year and although it wasn't my first concussion, since I lived in a pretty rough neighborhood where we fought all the time, it was a good one.

I was playing right defensive tackle and one game when the play came my way, made the tackle with my head into the numbers like I was taught. But when I got up the field was sideways. To not help matters, we were playing a very successful team from a "blood and guts" program known for what we refer to as "smash-mouth" football. Their coach saw what my coach did not, namely me stumbling around on the field asking the right guard where I was supposed to be. "There, right there!" my sideways teammate was yelling and pointing. So I got into my stance. The other team quickly ran the next play over my position again. The running back didn't even try to avoid me, he tried running right over me. But, I made the tackle again in the same fashion and that was it for me. I was out on my feet at that point and spent the remainder of the game sitting woozily on the bench. I just got my "bell rung" was all. The next day "I was fine" and back at practice.

I was never really a fan of the game but I played because adults came to me and asked me to play so I signed up having never played before. It's an interesting game in many respects but in others it is very destructive. So destructive that players spend a lot of time adding muscle to their frames so that they can take the physical abuse of the games. This time is not spent actually playing the game, it is spent so one CAN play the game. I look upon this as a fundamental flaw.

If you are on the Cross Country Track team, you run, you get better at running. Wrestling, the same thing, you wrestle. In most sports, time spent playing the game is it's most beneficial action and weight training augments the skill set. Football doesn't seem to fall into the same category. I never played football beyond that one season as a high school freshman.

Over the years I've seen some good, even great athletes destroyed by the game of football. Our star player in high school, a guy who had played since he was 6 years old, had to give it up due to chronic neck injury. He was 17.  Another guy, one of the most decorated athletes to come out of my high school, being an All-Scholastic in two sports two years in a row and a New England champion wrestler started to have black-outs his freshman year of college and had to stop playing football. He was 19. Yet another star player who was a standout Pop Warner star but who was short in stature and never could gain the weight deemed necessary to play at the high school level was blind-sided during a game by a guy 100 lbs heavier. The hit smashed his wrist into his breastplate, breaking it and putting him out not only of football but the next sports season also. He was 17 and today his wrist does not turn.

Nobody died but statistically across the nation more high school kids playing sports are killed playing football. In fact, football leads in all high school injury categories.

The people you see on television playing the pro game aren't necessarily the best players but the best players who managed to hold together long enough to reach the pro league. They can all read off a list of the major injuries they've gotten over time and have come back from. Who can imagine?

American Football is all about destruction. It's a game that destroys it's best athletes and according to Sports Illustrated the average player lasts 2.66 years as a pro.

I remember when I was a kid and there was this popular player, a lineman named Rosie Greer. He was a BIG guy and he became a minister when he had to retire from playing pro football. I remember seeing him on television as a guest on some show and when he walked out, he had a very noticeable limb. His gate immediately gave you the impression that he was on very shaky pins.

In fact, many of these former pros from decades past are physical wrecks. What good is all that money and glory when you're a cripple? And these guys are cripples. Ask Ted Johnson, 3 time Super Bowl champion linebacker for the New England Patriots how he's enjoying all the money he made? The short story on that is: He's messed up!

"But Wal Man." you say, "The NFL is making safer helmets!"

By trying to make a safer helmet you are only giving false hope to the hopeless. The same helmet developed to reduce the impact of a hit for the player wearing it also allows the same player to just hit an opposing player with more force without knocking themselves out. It doesn't do anything to prevent your brain impacting the inside of your skull where all the real damage comes from.  A hard shell helmet remains, and was since its invention, a head-delivered weapon and marked the beginning of the ultimate end of American pro football. The damage it's caused and continues to cause is a crime.

So many of these NFL guys are messed up it's hard to fathom anyone is still playing the game or that PARENTS are still sending their kids to football practice.

Perhaps it's our own fault. We all wanted to believe the team doctors saying the risk was minimal while putting concussed players back into the game and risking more damage. But now we know the doctors on the NFL payroll had lied. They lied to the players and they lied to the American public about the extent of the damage to the point where we had to have players commit suicide and leave us notes to have their brains examined. How horrible is that when you can't trust the people who are supposedly looking out for you and how can these people look at themselves in a mirror?

Hence, knowing what I know and having seen what I've seen, when I drove by that kid and his mom my gut actually wrenched.

And now, since we are finally seeing pictures and hard evidence of what we all really already knew but could reasonably be in denial over, will this "game" ever be the same for you to watch? Now that we know, who still wants into this sport?

Which takes us back to the real reason many kids get involved with the game at an early age to begin with.

It's up to Mom and Dad.

Blame Military Training For Killer Cops

“It’s more dangerous to be black in America. It’s both more dangerous because of crime, which is the Chicago story but it is more dangerous in that you’re substantially more likely to end up in a situation where police don’t respect you where you could easily get killed. I think sometimes for whites it’s difficult to appreciate how real that is.” – Republican Vice President hopeful, Newt Gingrich

Although not just a “Black thing” since the shooting rampage of the police forces in our nation goes beyond merely shooting black people. But when police are shooting Black people over a broken tail light, you just gotta think it's gotten beyond control.

It doesn't stop with one group of people however since the police are also shooting Whitey as well as Hispanics. In addition the police manage to indiscriminately shoot people in cross-fire situations, wounding many a passerby by irresponsibly discharging their weapons in public during shootings. You don't hear much about that either.

This willful carnage by our nation’s police force is coming more to the forefront in the “Everybody has a Camera” age. Now we see what we’ve always suspected. Police are just shooting people down for things they have no reason to fire their weapon for. Some of the video that is going around is incredible. Police shooting fleeing women, men just getting out of their car, black people everywhere and now licensed gun owners who have done what they were supposed to and told the officer they were carrying. I have some friends on local police forces sending me videos of shootings that are unbelievable in their cold-bloodedness. A cop doesn’t feel like running after this kid so he just shoots him in the back. No law against a police officer shooting a “fleeing felon” right? And Black, White or Brown, we’re ALL potential fleeing felons and we are ALL potential targets.

And when did failure to follow a police officer's instructions become a reason to shoot an unarmed person? It used to be a reason to hit you over the head with a flashlight but now it's the excuse all these killers with badges use to justify what they've done. "He didn't follow my instructions so I shot him." Are you fucking kidding me? We should FRY the next cop who uses this for an excuse.

Neil Young sung in the 1970s of “Soldiers are cutting us down.” Now he can sing about the police in the new century.

And it’s not only been going on for some time but it’s increasing in its frequency and ferocity.

Many Killer Cops Skate

And most of these killers with a badge get away with it. They don’t even lose their jobs! The courts have long looked the other way in the fight for “Justice”. It doesn’t matter if they are wrong or right, they’ll bash your head in and let the courts clear them. The police are operating with impunity these days and only answer for what they do when it’s caught on video. Even then they don’t go to jail.

People are tired of seeing this and black people especially are fed up with the constant “Revolving Door of Justice” when it comes to prosecuting killer cops.

The Role of the Military

As everyone is well aware, the United States has been training and cycling soldiers through the Middle East for decades. Most of these are what they like to call “Citizen Soldiers” those in the Army Reserves or the Air National Guard. These soldiers actually have regular jobs that they work when they are not overseas killing people. Many of these reservists are police officers.

People in the military can and do receive preferential hiring when they leave military service and decide to go into law enforcement either at the local or state level. Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) also tout the numbers of ex-military people they employ. This has gone on for decades now and one thing the U.S. has a large surplus of is military veterans.

So many cops are Vets these days and many have done tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many have done more than one tour in the Middle East. Some have done three.

Soldiers are trained to kill and get it done quickly. Whether you are A SEAL, Special Forces a Marine or an Army Regular, you are taught to focus on the primary objective: Kill the Enemy. Unlike an Army Regular, a Marine is trained to overrun enemy positions and to take casualties. That’s a special and intense focus. Not everyone can be a Marine and not everyone wants to. Ditto for the SEALS.

Improved Kill Ratio

Since the World War II there have been many in depth military studies on why troops shoot too high. These studies were used to try to improve the “Kill Ratio”, the number of bullets fired vs actual hits on the enemy, of U.S. soldiers. Since the American Civil War the top U.S. military commanders have been puzzled as to why troops have always shot too high and had very low kill rates. One psychological reason is that man has a natural aversion to killing another man. Another problem is that the human body goes into a “Stress Mode” when the shooting starts that restricts a person’s ability to shoot effectively, the pulse quickens, the pupils dilate and the body is flooded with hormones. So the military command has worked diligently since then to correct these “problems” and they have succeeded in grand fashion.

New training strategies work to desensitize soldiers to the act of killing and teach them not to feel responsible for their actions. So now when these guys pop in a door and make the decision to shoot, they hit the “target” at a percentage rate never before seen in the world. U.S. soldiers are the most efficient killers on the planet. Still.

It is also believed that this resulting “improvement” in training has also lead to increases in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

These are the people we are supplying to our nations police forces. They are institutionalized, desensitized killers who have had the smell of blood in their nostrils and now they've traded the uniform of the American Armed Services for that of a City or Town police officer.

What can possibly go wrong?

Police Officers or Soldiers?

A collaboration of sorts has been taking place between the military and local and state police departments. The local forces have acquired an incredible amount of military gear. Laser sites, gas masks, night vision googles, military style bullet proof vests and leggings, armored vehicles, acoustic riot control vehicles, high powered and automatic weapons and military style systems training. All supplied by the Federal Government.

They aren’t just cops anymore, they have become a highly trained select military tactical force right here in every neighborhood. They have all the resources taxpayer money can buy.

So just who do they answer to now?

The Drug War

The War on Drugs and its sister police-state building sister, the Patriot Act, gave law enforcement organizations across the country the power and resources it needed to build up its fighting might. The progress our nation’s police forces have made in their military capabilities is unmistakable and alarming. Over the last decade especially they have greatly grown in strength. Even though the Drug War has crashed and burned the laws and their “kick in the door” attitude remains.

The confiscatory nature of the drug laws saw local and state police raking in millions of dollars from property seizures that still continue today with little media fanfare. The police have taken cash, cares, land and homes that are then sold at auction. Assets and their proceeds the department gets to keep. The police also routinely freeze with the intent of seizing bank assets that would otherwise have served to help the “Accused” with their legal defense because any financial assets are instantly deemed “ill gotten” without having to actually prove it. But that’s ok, they were guilty anyway. Otherwise, why would the police arrest them?

What happens if you protest these actions? You could lose your property too. All that is required is an accusation.

So don’t think for a moment that law enforcement will go along with drug legalization attempts. This is their livelihood we’re talking about.

Obama Not Helping

President Obama has this uncanny knack of saying the wrong thing at exactly the right time. After all this time can anybody think this is an accident? Our racial divide although never really addressed since the 1960s has laid dormant since the late70s has now been brought roaring back by a combination of an advancing militant police force and a race-baiting president. This will benefit no one.

It is no surprise that Mr. Obama will not admit there is a widening racial divide in the U.S. under his administration. One has to wonder if Obama will succeed where Charles Manson had failed in triggering a race war in this country.

Gun Legislation Now Dead

As a good Apparatchik, Comrade Obama has come out with his expected “take guns away, the problem is solved” rhetoric.  This will not happen no matter how many sit-ins occur now in Washington. Congress isn’t going to touch it. Nobody is going to give up their guns while battle lines are being drawn in the city streets. People will only hold them closer than ever before.

What Now?

Ending the Drug Prohibition will help. The corresponding reduction in a standing police force will help also. The corresponding saving to the beleaguered American taxpayer will boost the economy.

Cutting back the totally corrupt Welfare System will also help. Continuing to subsidize a large group of people has not worked for us. Keeping people poor and stupid has not added wealth to this nation. Learning to make your own way in the world is the most enriching thing a human being can achieve in life. It’s time everyone had that opportunity again. The Welfare system is not doing anybody any favors and continuing to tell a group of people that they can't compete on a level playing field without government help will never get them on base in the game of life. The corresponding savings in taxes can go to drug rehab programs that this nation so sorely lacks.

We should end our wasteful wars that accomplish nothing but spreading violence throughout the world and creates tons of disabled warriors that we can't seem to be able to take care of. We have created a “Chicken or the Egg” cycle of violence that only increases and has not made anyone any safer. The result has been quite the opposite actually. This will also result in a net gain for the American taxpayer.

A rising economy will lift all boats. Ours has been an embarrassing flat-line of failure with the faces of GW Bush and Barak Obama on the IOUs. Putting our money back into our pockets so that we can spend it on the right things will further the nation more than any war or welfare check.

Doing away with these wasteful influence buying, power-grabbing programs will bring the economy back so if you want a job in this country, you should be able to find one. The failed cycle of economic bribery that has been going on since the 1960s should be brought to an end.

Or we can become a Police State.

Take your pick.

Trump 2016!

Gay Community Should Arm Itself

When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

And President Obama anxiously awaits his next anti-gun press conference.

So rather than being a government propaganda tool as a dead person, it would be ok to choose to learn how to defend yourself and avoid the whole political tussle.

When you are a target, and gays have been targets from the beginning of the age of Christianity, then perhaps you would take an interest and responsibility for your own protection because, let’s face it, nobody is in a better position to do it than yourself.

More women are arming themselves than ever before and successfully defending themselves too. Although as a general rule the National Press tend to suppress news of people successfully fighting off attackers and robbers. They wouldn’t want people getting “ideas” that they could actually stop crime when it happens to them.

If someone in the club had a gun on them beside the detailed police officer, who was not enough, then they could have popped this guy Mateen. Preferably, when his back was turned.  It has happened where someone in an establishment under attack had shot the attacker. In fact, this has happened many, many times.

If we were talking about a segment of society that made up 50% percent of the population then we wouldn’t be talking about gays being shunned and attacked as often since only minority populations are targets of discrimination and prejudice. Gays are a minority population and despite the laws passed to protect their rights and freedoms they are still subject to ridicules and violence not experienced by most straight people.

Turning our attention to the shooter, Omar Mateen, a 1st generation American citizen as well as a radicalized Muslim terrorist, his father made a totally bullshit statement about the shooting not being “about religion” since his poor unfortunate son witnessed two men kissing in public and THIS is what drove him to shoot up the gay nightclub. I’m glad he took the time to straightened that out.

Most people aren’t driven to kill upon witnessing such things but the most likely characteristics of those who do seem to be Muslim. The Muslims are attacking people in Europe. Attacking women in Brussels and Munich, attacking women without headscarves in their own country and attacking non-Muslim people everywhere. Muslims are throwing gay people and people just plain suspected of being gay, off of two story buildings with their hands tied behind their backs in Libya, Iran and Pakistan. Gays are being hung in Saudi Arabia. Everywhere in Muslim countries gays are being HUNTED and KILLED.

But this shooting in an Orlando gay club, it’s not about religion. It’s just about killing gay people.

That’s all. We should just understand this.

To clarify a major misconception concerning so called “Assault Rifles”. These are just semi-automatic rifles, a rifle that resets the trigger using a “blow-back” system that was first invented before the Civil War. Today it is a very common device that is in almost every firearm made and legal in every state. To think that these are going to go away regardless of what the Obama regime attempts is naive at best. Whether the gun is displayed in a classic wooden stock or in a rather fierce looking black polymer encasement, it is still the same weapon. Under the Clinton syndicate's Assault Rifle ban back in 1994, the oft-demonized Colt AR-15, with it's lightweight polymer stock and sleek black design was branded an assault weapon while it's wooden-clad competitor, the Ruger Mini-14, was not. Of course the sale of the AR-15s really took off because of the ban and it remains the country's most popular rifle.

When the government media speaks of "Automatic" weapons, they are actually referring to these semi-automatic weapons to purposely mislead the uniformed. Automatic weapons can only legally be possessed by law enforcement and military personnel. Civilians cannot have them legally.

If these guns or even ALL guns were banned in the United States, then they will just come into the country from someplace else. Our borders are unsecured, remember? The same inaction by our present government that allows illegal aliens to enter also allows goods and materials not allowed in this country to come in also. China and Russia among other armament manufacturing countries will find a ready market for their guns here in the U.S.  If we can’t keep drugs out of the country to the point where we are legalizing them, what makes any thinking person think that we can keep guns out?

So the message should be clear: Protect yourselves at all times. If you won't do it, who will?
