Sexuality was not something to be talked about. That went for liking
women as well as men. It wasn’t something that was supposed to be an issue in
scouting. That was your business.
Now that has changed. Now it is about sexuality.
The Boy Scouts of America, long a target of the Political
Left for their stance against homosexual membership, has now decided to become the
lightning rod for open debate concerning homosexuality and put the
scouts front and center in the national clash over the rights of homosexuals.
If the latest Dog and Pony show that the BSA has put on over
the last several months is any indication, polling over 200,000 of its
membership, publishing the results and reporting that membership was against
changing policy to allow openly homosexual scouts by a margin of 2 to 1 and
then voting to allow them in anyway, the national body of scouting is out of
touch with the grass roots of its organization. Most just want to just carry on with the tradition of scouting and stay out of politics and the spotlight.
But isn't this is just like any governing body these days? The people
involved have their say and vote and then the governing body just goes and does
what it wants anyway regardless. But hey, you had a chance for input, you
should be thankful for that.
Before the vote, nobody wanted to hear about your sexual
orientation since that was not the business of Scouting, now the BSA has made
it their business and this won't be the last we hear about it.
